Stillborn // [Introduction]

Some things you write and then forget on purpose. I found this one again by accident — waiting. What follows is chapter zero, rewritten. Nothing about it will feel familiar to you, because it never existed until now.

Going Back to Basics ///

Ya’ll remember StillBorn

My short ghotic-horror-pious-lore-dark fantasy-horror story??

No, you don’t remember it – because I’ve deleted it from the internet. The cover was bothering me, lol.

The Main Topic

So God, right? But like he is the king of a domain, and the angels, a group of technomancers traveling the spheres, have direct contact to god. And they have to sometimes stand in his presence by climbing up a tower. And when they do – they are inflected by the unseeing.

A blindness of the eyes of the mind.

My favorite part is that I accidentally created a cool lovecraftian brain monster!

It was edgy…🫣

So yeah it’s a little bloodborne in there but I like it honestly,

And so I drew some art for it. Have a look!

The blindness itself. – Deep Dive –

The affliction isn’t sensory but epistemic. The technomancers don’t lose sight; they lose the capacity to comprehend what they saw.

That’s scarier than literal blindness because it implies they keep functioning, keep believing they understand, while something essential has been scooped out.

There was a change, the angels don’t notice, but other’s do.

Does it need to be a spell?

God doesn’t choose to burn them, it’s an involuntary side of effect of their proximity. Staring at the sun burns, but not with malice.

  • God’s nature is simply incompatible with a finite mind’s, and the blinding is just what contact costs, nobody’s the villain, reality just isn’t built for angels to look directly at their king.

Angels understand god through instruments, circuitry, calculation — a systematized, controlled relationship to the divine.

The tower forces them into an unmediated one.

Their instruments, their equations, their ability to model what they’ve climbed toward. All gone.

A technomancer who can no longer quantify God.

The Final Question

If every angel who’s ever stood before God carries some permanent portion of it, so they must pilgrimage, they pay for access with their comprehension — older angels are visibly, unsettlingly hollowed out compared to younger ones.
