Before Max met Nate, he partied like it was 1996 with Eiden, in hopes of catching him slip and snatch Arslan for himself. Of course that never happened.

Max and Eiden are like that Viking drinking game, except it has gone far beyond a little too much, everyone’s getting worried and honestly it’s a little awkward as the loud chants slowly turned into worried whispers.
And yet still they are not stopping – guys the suns coming up, can we wrap this up?
Neither one of them is giving up!
Then the next day Max and Eiden might spend the day together or they might not depending on how big their hangover is. Until they get bored, and start all over again.
Arslan never liked Max
Arslan keeps Eiden away from drugs and alcohol, but Max is a Eiden’s catalyst. From day one Arslan never actually liked Max. Then after the [locker room] incident. Arslan disliked Max even more.
Arslan wishes for a guy like him to show up, except someone who will feed that party side of Max in a healthy way.
That’s when Nate shows up, and after a [that summer weekend getaway] things have never been the same.
Max is actually all the better for it. Eiden understands a part of Arslan no one will ever see or get to really understand and know. Meanwhile Max scratched into that side of Arslan without even realizing.
Arslan only recently started to consider Max a friend thanks to the changes Nate has instilled on him.
