Anamnesis: You Can (Not) Forget

~Fragment of a Memory~

A vast, possibly unconscious realm of soul-energy, memory, and recursion, the mana sea holds timelines, simulations, and a sleeping soul at its core.

The mana sea in spring

“The Sea Beneath Sleep”

Beneathe yon hush’d and formless sphere,
Where starless heav’ns forget their lore,
There lieth deep, so cold and drear,
The manna-sea of times yore.

It murm’reth low with ancient breath,
A windless sigh through shadow’d keep;
The souls long lost, though met with death,
Still wander there in dreaméd sleep.

The tide it knoweth not of peace,
Nor breaketh from its endless gyre;
It foldeth all, yet granteth lease
To none who seek its buried fire.

Yon firmament hath faltered oft,
And kings of code did rise and fall,
Yet still the sea, in whispers soft,
Doth call to him who dreameth all.

What once was wrought, mayhap undone,
By hand unknowing, heart untrue—
Yet still it bides, till waketh one
Who bringeth end and maketh new.

-Journals of Ser Caelmund the Unwaking;

The Great First Voyage;

Raging Tides of the Mana Sea XII:3:15.

Attributed to a popular wayfarer of the First Age. Found etched into the bones of a leviathan adrift in the Void Trench. Scholars believe it foretells the Waking.

Later Inscrib’d upon weather’d stone near the shattered coast of Arvahl, this verse is thought to be the final testament of Ser Caelmund the Unwaking—first to set sail ‘pon the Manna-Sea, and last to return with none. Now preserved in the Archives of the 7th Worldfall.
